Artem Marchenko

CTO · Software Builder

I build software and lead teams that build software. After 20+ years in the industry — from embedded systems to web scale — I’ve landed as CTO at Treamer, a Helsinki-based “LinkedIn for Frontline Workers”: an AI-powered, social-first career platform built for essential workers.

I have fun with side projects too — sometimes fortunate enough to dominate the (admittedly not-so-popular) app stores, sometimes just making life a little easier or more fun.

Currently

CTO at Treamer — Building not just a gig-work platform that matches workers with work in minutes, but an actual AI-powered career platform. I lead engineering, shape processes, contribute to product-market fit discovery, and still enjoy writing code.

Some points

I enjoy finding the sweet spots — in architecture, processes, and everything else. How do you make a process flexible enough to spark creativity yet structured enough to hit business goals? Where does scalability matter most, and where does developer experience take priority? Those tradeoffs fascinate me.

I love having side projects. More than once, lessons from side projects proved surprisingly useful on the day job. My best-known side projects were several bestselling apps for the awesome Nokia N9 — I had the most downloads on Jolla Sailfish OS for a while, and my React Native experiments got 1000+ downloads/month. This very site, agilesoftwaredevelopment.com, used to pull 40–50K pageviews/month back in the day. Back then it was more of a collaborative blog, though.

Sometimes I enjoy the rigorous side of things, which resulted in several PhD-level articles for a never-to-be-completed PhD at Tampere University of Technology, supervised by Prof. Pekka Abrahamsson.
